Dance + Musical Theater Classes
18 months – 7 yrs

Mommy + Me
Ages: 18 months – 2 years
A classic introduction to the world of dance – the studio, the mirrors, the music, the teacher, the ballet slippers — and the movement! Children learn to follow the gentle physical lead of their teacher, and to funnel their desire to dance into actual skill. Posture and traditional class etiquette/comportment begins from the moment they step into class. Music played in class ranges from classical piano ballet music to symphonic and Disney. Each class ends with an improvised creative dance.
Pas de Two
Ages: 2 years
Classical Ballet while being introduced to the exciting world of dance — the studio, the mirrors, the music, the teacher — and the movement! Children learn to follow the gentle physical lead of their teacher, and to funnel their desire to dance into actual skill. They will learn how to engage in an activity independent of their parent and begin to refine coordination and cognitive reasoning abilities. Music played in class ranges from classical piano and symphonic to Disney and Broadway. Each class ends with an improvised creative dance.
Petite Danse + Tap
Ages: 3 years
Classical Ballet and Tap while being introduced to the exciting world of dance – the studio, the mirrors, the music, the teacher — and the movement! Ages: 4-5 years
Petite Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Tumbling
Ages: 4 years
An introduction to concepts designed especially to train the preschooler with an emphasis on coordination, rhythm, timing, and self-expression through basic dance techniques in a loving and nurturing atmosphere. Children will learn the structure of a dance class. They will learn how to wait their turn patiently, respectfully and quietly and to take turns graciously. They will learn how to appreciate and respect each other’s efforts and how to listen and implement information effectively.
Creative Play
Ages: 4-5
Creative Play is an imagination-oriented introduction to Theatre that develops creative movement, interactive story-building, and character identification. Guided by the instructor, each student will participate in exciting themed imagination exercises, prop/costume play, and group discussions involving self-concept.
Boys’ Rough’n’Tumble (Movement + Dance)
Ages: 4-6 years
Get ready to rumble in this amazing and popular class designed to channel the energy and enthusiasm of our youngest movers! Boys will experience a little bit of everything from ballet and jazz to hip hop and tumbling, all while having fun with friends in a lively and encouraging environment.
Kinder Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Tumbling
Ages: 5 years
An introduction to Ballet, Jazz, Tap and/or Tumbling concepts designed especially to train the kindergartener with an emphasis on coordination, rhythm, timing, and self-expression through basic dance techniques in a loving and nurturing atmosphere. Children will learn the structure of a dance class and proper classroom etiquette. They will learn how to wait their turn patiently, respectfully and quietly and to take turns graciously. They will learn how to appreciate and respect each other’s efforts and how to listen and implement information effectively.
Hip Hop

Creative Drama I
Ages: 5-7
Creative Drama Level I is a process-oriented introduction to Theatre that develops imagination, creative movement, basic theatrical terminology, audience etiquette, story building, character building, and self-concept. Guided by the instructor, each student will participate in fun activities and group discussions including characters, theme, plot, dialogue, and mood. Creative Drama Level I also introduces students to Pantomime, Improvisation, Characterization, and Group Acting Work concepts.
Pre Ballet I
Ages: 6-7 years
This class bridges a student’s transition from the Primary Program to a more structured class environment. They are introduced to an increased level of formal training consisting of the barre and center work. The posture, placement and presence of the classical ballet will be emphasized. The practice exercises introduced at this level for alignment, flexibility and coordination will develop a strong foundation of physical and cognitive understanding necessary for Classical Ballet training. Inspirational and classical music provide an enriching and stimulating environment. The class will serve to expand and nurture the dancers’ creative talent. Besides the fun of movement, students will learn discipline through participation in the classroom structure and mutual respect for their fellow students. Class concludes with a reverence.
Pre Jazz I
Ages: 6-7 years
This class bridges a student’s transition from the Primary Program to a more structured class environment. They are introduced to an increased level of formal training through jazz concepts designed especially to train the dancers with an emphasis on coordination, rhythm, timing, vocabulary, strength and self-expression in a loving and nurturing atmosphere.
Pre Ballet II
Ages: 7-8 years
This class continues to bridge a student’s transition from the Primary Program to a more structured class environment. They continue an increased level of formal training consisting of the barre and center work. The posture, placement and presence of the classical ballet will be emphasized. The practice exercises introduced at this level for alignment, flexibility and coordination will develop a strong foundation of physical and cognitive understanding necessary for Classical Ballet training. Inspirational and classical music provide an enriching and stimulating environment. The class will serve to expand and nurture the dancers’ creative talent. Ages: 7-8 years
This class continues to bridge a student’s transition from the Primary Program to a more structured class environment. They are introduced to an increased level of formal training through jazz concepts designed especially to train the dancers with an emphasis on coordination, rhythm, timing, vocabulary, strength and self-expression in a loving and nurturing atmosphere.
Pre Tap II
Ages: 7-8 years
This class bridges a student’s transition from the Primary Program to a more structured class environment. An introduction to tap concepts designed especially to train the dancers with an emphasis on coordination, rhythm, timing, vocabulary, strength and self-expression through basic tap technique in a loving and nurturing atmosphere. Students will learn specific movement skills that will help them to feel and identify with the music while developing technique and style to perform. The class will serve to expand and nurture the dancers’ creative talent.
Hip Hop
Ages: 6-8 years
This class is a high energy dance style, originating from funk and street dance. Class will focus on different stylized techniques, rhythm, and isolations. Hip Hop class encourages dancers to engage in freestyle to help build style and confidence.
Acrodance
Ages: 6-8 years
This class is an important component of our dance and theater programs. This popular “human performance” class develops balance, agility, flexibility, strength and motor coordination. The technique is designed specifically for the dance floor and skills are intended to be integrated into dance choreography. Our 12 level Acro program syllabus is taught by teachers certified and accredited by Acro Dance Teachers Association, Acrobatic Arts, Progressing Ballet Technique and Alixa Flexibility. Students will learn a variety of skills such as cartwheels, handstands, front chest stand, hand balancing, headstands, aerial cartwheels, walkovers, and back handsprings.
Creative Drama II
Ages: 7+
Creative Drama Level II is a process-oriented introduction to Theatre that develops imagination, creative movement, story building, character building, theatrical terminology, audience etiquette, group cooperation, and self-concept. Students must complete Creative Drama Level I (or a similar course) if they are under age 7 to be approved for Level II. Guided by the instructor, each student will participate in fun activities and group discussions including characters, theme, plot, dialogue, mood, climax, and resolution. Creative Drama Level II builds on Pantomime, Improvisation, Characterization, Group Acting Work, and Story Building concepts.
Boys’ Hip Hop + Tumbling
Ages: 7-11 years
This class is a high energy dance style, originating from funk and street dance with tumbling for Boys. Class will focus on different stylized techniques, rhythm, and isolations. Hip Hop class encourages dancers to engage in freestyle to help build style and confidence.
