Laine Habony

Laine Habony is a member of New York City Ballet’s corps de ballet. Born in Dallas, Texas, she began her classical dance training at the age of eight at Ballet Conservatory in Lewisville, Texas, under Kelly Kilburn Lannin, Allan Kinzie, and Shawn Stevens. Laine participated in the Youth America Grand Prix and won 1st place in the classical category in Dallas at age 13, then went on to compete in the YAGP NYC finals. Laine was offered scholarships from many of the biggest ballet programs in the world including the John Cranko School, Canada National and more. She accepted a full-merit scholarship to the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet (NYCB), for the 2010 summer course at SAB and enrolled as a full-time student that year. During her time at SAB, Laine danced as an apprentice with the Chautaqua Summer program and was selected and trained by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Patricia McBride to perform featured roles George Balanchine’s Donizzeti Variations and Serenade. Ms. Habony became an apprentice with NYCB in November 2013 and joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet in November 2014. Since that time she has danced featured roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins and Peter Martins, and originated roles in works by Christopher Wheeldon, Justin Peck, Lauren Lovette, Fang-Yi Sheu, Anabelle Lopez Ochoa, Warren Carlyle, Shawn Stevens and Gilbert Bolden III.
