TDC CHOREOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE 2020
June 8-19, 2020 + Aug 3-14, 2020
The Dallas Conservatory’s Choreography Experience is an opportunity for emerging choreographers ages 14-20 to immerse themselves in the study of the choreographic process. This opportunity focuses on helping students become confident, inventive, and risk-taking choreographers. Its goal is to give a voice to the next generation of choreographers while allowing individual exploration into organic movement and composition techniques. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and explore their own artistic visions.
Chosen choreographers will participate in ballet, contemporary, and improv classes with The Dallas Conservatory’s International Summer Intensive throughout the week. Each choreographer will also work closely with TDC Artistic Staff and Faculty to create a concept, spatial design and movement vocabulary for their original work. Choreographers spend time with a team of dancers each day, working on their piece and refining the movement. There are nightly showings of the works in progress culminating with a showcase of the final work at the end of the week. Choreographers receive individual mentoring and feedback throughout the process as they learn and refine choreographic skills, and hone their choreographic voice.
Two choreographers per week will be chosen for the Choreography Intensive. Please submit the following for consideration into the program, all choreographers must also be accepted into the International Summer Dance Intensive:
