ausia_jones_headshot-copyTDC Alumna and current USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance student Ausia Jones is a two-time Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) Outstanding Choreographer Award winner, sharing the prestigious award with Travis Wall (2016) and Carlos Dos Santos (2015). As a Kaufman dance major, Ausia has the honor of training with the legendary William Forsythe who has been acknowledged for reorienting the practice of ballet from its identification with classical repertoire to a dynamic 21st century art form. As an incoming sophomore, she has already had the honor of dancing works by William Forsythe, George Balanchine and Jiri Kylian. Before beginning her collegiate training, Ausia attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where she had the honor of performing works by Robert Battle, Azure Barton, Dwight Rhoden, Desmond Richardson, Jessica Lang, Takehiro Ueyama, Lar Lubovitch, Sidra Bell, and more. She has received many honors and awards such as, Young Arts winner in both choreography and dance (2016), National High School Outstanding Choreographer finalist (2016), Merit Scholarship and Early Acceptance to USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, YAGP 1st place Contemporary Dance (2015) and Alonzo King LINES Homer Avila Scholarship. As she continues to cultivate her passion, Ausia hopes to share her knowledge and love for dance in a way that inspires and educates the next generation of young artists.
