Megan Storey is a native of Newcastle, Oklahoma. At the age of three, she began her dance education at a local studio, taking classes in tap and ballet and later extending to include jazz, hip hop and contemporary forms. Megan attended high school at the Classen School of Advanced Studies and Visual/Performing Arts as a dance major, training in classical ballet, pointe, flamenco and modern, and graduated as Valedictorian while simultaneously continuing her training in jazz, tap, hip hop and contemporary. She also participated in many dance competitions and was titled Miss Dance of Oklahoma in 2008. She continued her dance training and experience by attending summer programs on scholarships at the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute, the School at Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Program, River North Dance Chicago, Spectrum Dance Theater and Dallas Black Dance Theatre. These experiences gave her the opportunity to learn from distinguished instructors such as Andrew Palermo, Milton Myers, Francisco Martinez, Tony Fabre, Andrea Miller, Donald Byrd, Stephanie Powell, Baba Chuck Davis, Jennifer Archibald and others. Megan was also a founding member of the Oklahoma City Dance Project in 2012. She attended the University of Oklahoma School of Dance under the direction of Mary Margaret Holt where she studied modern, ballet, flamenco, and Counter-technique. She had the privilege of working with and performing works by Austin Hartel, Derrick Minter, Jessica Lang and was the featured soloist “Angelitos Negros” in Songs of the Disinherited by Donald McKayle. In May 2014, she graduated with Special Distinction and was named the Outstanding Senior of the School of Dance with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance Performance. She is now a member of LyveARTS Project under the direction of Jamie Thompson, performing works in contemporary ballet, modern, jazz, African and Caribbean dance styles. Megan also has many years of experience in Pilates and yoga, as well as knowledge of anatomy, holistic health and overall wellness. She has a strong passion for performing all styles of dance and is enjoying her professional performance career while sharing her passion through teaching all styles of dance at several studios in the Dallas area.
